Mariano Maggi and Caville Shine in $2,500 Sapphire Welcome CSI3*, sponsored by Run Amok Horse Transportation

THERMAL, Calif. – February 20, 2020 -Mariano Maggi (SWE) aboard Caville (Cartogran x Mr. Blue), owned by Uma O’Neill, led the victory gallop of the $2,500 Sapphire Tour Welcome CSI3*, sponsored by Run-A-Mok Horse Transportation, after finishing with a time of 27.95 seconds. Zazou Hoffman (USA) and Bloom du Plessis (Orient Express x Rosire), owned by The Bloom Group, finished second with a time of 28.63 seconds. Katelyn Denby aboard Kalina (Casiro 210047802 x Canturo 210405), owned by Mountain View West Farm LLC, finished third with a time of 28.99 seconds.

Twenty-seven pairs challenged the course in Grand Prix Stadium with nineteen pairs going clear to jump-off. Maggi and Caville were unstoppable; “The second phase was good for her, especially the last line coming out of the combination where I could really take one or two strides off the distance and really make the time.”

Maggi and the 2006 Oldenburg mare have been partners since the mare was six-years-old and competed in Europe, but the mare was recently sold to Uma O’Neill. “I have been lucky to ride her for a couple of shows here,” Maggi shared after the win in Thursday’s CSI3* Welcome. After the two weeks of competing in the FEI classes at the Desert International Horse Park, Caville, will go back to compete with O’Neill.
