WEST COAST JUMPER SERIES KICKS OFF THIS WEEK AT NATIONAL SUNSHINE SERIES II

$500,000 IN PRIZE MONEY TO BE AWARDED, INCLUDING $50,000 RIDER BONUS 

THERMAL, Calif. – November 3, 2020 – Earlier this month, Desert International Horse Park (DIHP) and West Palms Event Management (WPEM) announced their $500,000 West Coast Jumper Event Series. This exciting event represents a unique collaboration between two leading horse show management companies and offers West Coast riders a great chance to win significant prize money this fall. The series begins this week at DIHP’s National Sunshine Series II and consists of $450,000 in prize money from three Grand Prix classes — DIHP’s $250,000 STX Grand Prix (Nov. 7), WPEM’s $100,000 Riders Cup Grand Prix (Nov. 22), and DIHP’s $100,000 Grand Prix (Dec. 13) — and a $50,000 rider bonus. 

The $50,000 rider bonus will be awarded to the top three horse and rider combinations. The top horse/rider combination will win $25,000, the second place horse/rider combination $15,000, and the third place horse/rider combination will win $10,000. The top three will be determined by points accumulated. Riders with more than one horse must declare which horse they will ride for points and must ride that horse first in the order.  

Points will be distributed for the rider bonus based on placings in the three Grand Prix classes in the following breakdown to 17th place: 

1st: 20

2nd: 17

3rd: 15

4th: 14

5th: 13

6th: 12

7th: 11

8th: 10

9th: 9

10th: 8

11th: 7

12th: 6

13th: 5

14th: 4

15th: 3

16th: 2

17th: 1

Each Grand Prix will be weighted equally and placement in the $250,000 STX Grand Prix’s placings will act as a tiebreaker should there be the need for one.
